About Nangaiza
Families and homes in Nangaiza village struggle to access healthcare, education and other basic services and young children often suffer disproportionately. The village’s health indicators are low. Preventable diseases including parental and maternal illnesses and malaria take a major toll.
Birds of a Feather will continue to focus on protection, education, health, and food and economic security activities and how these initiatives can be more closely integrated. For example, protecting children will be a crosscutting theme across all programs. Our orphaned and vulnerable children activities will be coupled with food security and economic opportunities programs. In addition, we will expand education initiatives so that more hard-to-reach children can attend and remain in school.
Since 2014, Birds of a Feather in Nangaiza has worked with local communities to design Sponsorship programs for kids. Targeted to help children from early childhood to early adulthood, our programs work to make a healthy and safe environment where children can learn and grow. Our programs designed for primary school-aged kids work to transform students into lifelong learners by building strong curriculums and passionate teachers. We also provide health education and care to children in need through our school health programs to help children stay healthy, well-nourished and in school. Thanks to the generous support from our community of sponsors, these essential programs in Nangaiza continue to give children a healthy start and the opportunity to learn, protecting them from harm along the way.
