Joan is the third born in a family of seven children. Her parents are casual workers around the village. They work around people’s gardens and also do some subsistence farming on a small scale to get food for the family. The family is very needy, they struggle to send the children to school. Joan is a clever girl in primary four currently, her best subject is mathematics. Joan wants to study up to Makerere University the highest and best learning institution in East Africa and she becomes a teacher so that she can teach and help other children in the world.
